Agency Operations

From Placement to Payment: The Connected Recovery Loop

Intake, prioritization, outreach, conversation, payment and reporting should feed each other. In Nexum, they share one account and do.

Every step should leave the account smarter than it found it.

Summary

Most agencies run the recovery lifecycle as a relay between separate tools.

A connected loop lets every outcome improve the next decision.

Nexum connects every step on one account record, with no re-entry.

Key takeaways

Map your lifecycle and mark every handoff.

Kill re-entry between steps first.

See the full loop in a Nexum demo.

The lifecycle

Placement, intake, eligibility, prioritization, outreach, conversation, resolution, exceptions, then reporting and remittance. Every account goes through it.

Where the loop breaks

In many agencies, these steps live in different places: imports in one tool, the CRM in another, a separate texting platform, a dialer, spreadsheets for client reports. Each handoff creates delay and error. Worse, information stops flowing backward. The texting tool doesn't know a consumer called in. The scoring model doesn't learn from which outreach produced payments. The client report is built from an export that was out of date the moment it ran.

What "connected" means

A connected recovery loop has three properties:

One account context. Every step reads from and writes to the same account record, with one history.

Forward flow without re-entry. Intake creates the account; eligibility rules apply to every channel; a posted payment updates every downstream view.

Backward learning. Contact responses, conversation outcomes and payments feed prioritization, so tomorrow's decisions are better than today's.

A practical example

An account is placed and passes import review. DebtorIndex ranks it highly but flags that its phone number is thin. It's sent for better contact data instead of more dials. A text with a payment link reaches the consumer; they don't pay but call back. The collector sees the text in the account's history, has a better conversation, and sets up a plan with a signed authorization. The first payment posts, the balance updates, the account comes off the call list, the commission is calculated and the client sees the payment in their portal. The account's behavior updates its score.

Nobody re-keyed anything.

Measure the loop

  • Days from placement to first contact.
  • Expected recovery value per worked account.
  • Payment conversion by tier.
  • Unnecessary data-purchase cost.
  • Time from payment to client visibility.

A Nexum example

An account clears Import Center review. DebtorIndex ranks it high but flags a thin number, so it goes to skip trace instead of the dialer. A Nudge text with a payment link reaches the consumer; they call back. The collector sees the text in the Comm Log, sets up a plan with a ConsentPay authorization, the first payment posts, the account leaves the call list, the commission calculates and the client sees the payment in its portal. Nobody re-keyed anything.

The bottom line

Recovery improves when the lifecycle is a loop, not a relay race. Nexum is the loop.
