APIs Are Only Valuable When Workflows Stay in Sync
Connected isn't the same as consistent. Nexum's modules share one account record, so there's nothing to drift out of sync.
Connected isn't the same as consistent.
Summary
A working API can still leave systems disagreeing on balances, statuses and payments.
Consistency needs data ownership, event ordering, idempotency, error handling and reconciliation.
Inside Nexum, modules share one account record instead of syncing copies.
Key takeaways
Reconcile balances, statuses and payments across systems regularly.
Handle out-of-order and duplicate events explicitly.
See Nexum's shared account record in a demo.
Connected, but wrong
Requests succeed, responses arrive, and two systems still disagree: a payment missing on one side, statuses applied out of order, duplicates from retries, permission changes not mirrored.
What keeps workflows in sync
Clear ownership. For each data element, one system is authoritative. Others receive updates.
Event ordering. Updates include timestamps or sequence numbers so the receiving system applies them in the right order and ignores stale ones.
Idempotency. Each action carries a unique ID so retries don't duplicate payments, messages or notes.
Complete events. Updates include enough context to apply correctly (account, amount, status, time, source).
Error handling. Failed updates go to an exception queue with an owner, not just a log.
Reconciliation. Regularly compare key data across systems and resolve differences.
Reconciliation in practice
Choose the data that matters most and compare it on a schedule:
- Balances: daily or weekly.
- Payments: daily.
- Statuses and restrictions: daily, especially cease-and-desist and disputes.
- Account counts per client: weekly.
Investigate differences, fix causes and record what was done.
Watch permissions too
If users or clients are provisioned in more than one system, make sure access changes (especially removals) propagate.
Measure it
- Discrepancies found in reconciliation.
- Failed transactions and manual re-entry.
- Time to resolve integration exceptions.
Nexum avoids the problem by design
Within Nexum, SilentReach, Nudge, Campaigns, payments, portals and dashboards read the same account and post to the same Comm Log, so there are no internal copies to drift. Credentials come from one vault. For connections to other CRMs, integrations are scoped with clear data ownership. See connect systems, don't invade them.
The bottom line
Judge integrations by consistency. Nexum is consistent because it's one record. See why integrations fail.
